Five For Friday!

Today I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five for Friday linky! This is my first time linking up. I am going to try to link up once a month. Now, to tell you a little about my week…

 I wrapped up my 10th year of teaching on Tuesday! That marks five years in kindergarten and five years in first grade. I am so shocked at those numbers. I have zero clue where time goes. I am positive that I will be wrapping up my 20th year before I know it.

This was most likely the hardest school year for me. The difficulty had nothing to do with my class, they were wonderful. It had to do with my personal life. As some of you know, I am currently battling infertility. It is the most difficult thing that I have ever gone through. I hope to share more in a blog post soon. I keep writing it over and over in my head. For now though, I am so thankful for a job that has an ending point, a long break and a new starting point every year. I plan on spending my summer resting and rejuvenating to make next year better.

I usually only read one book at a time, but this week I have been reading several! I am excited that we started our book study for The Book Whisperer. Check out my post here. I am also in two book clubs for Now I See You and The Book of Awesome. My principal just gave the teachers The Reading Strategies Book and I can not wait to dive deeper into it!

It is impossible to describe how big of a sports fan my husband is. Impossible. His main teams are Notre Dame and the Cubs, however he loves to go to any sporting event. We went to the Blackhawks game on Wednesday night. They are in the middle of the Stanley Cup Championships! It was an unforgettable night. They won!

Many people have been counting down until June 12th for Jurassic Park coming out. I have been counting down for Orange is the New Black. I have spent my Friday binge watching. Although I haven’t found it super exciting yet, it has kept my interest for hours!

Last but not least, my two truths and the lie for Tell All Tuesday! Read my original post here. I wanted to make mine tricky, so I stuck with a theme of music.
1. The drummer from Dave Matthews Band, Carter Beauford, had dinner at my home when I was 16.
     *LIE! So sorry to disappoint, but this did not happen. However, my family was friends with him! My dad is an entertainment lawyer and worked with several bands. My brother is a music agent and worked with Dave Matthews Band a lot. Carter was always so nice to us when they came to town each summer!
2. One of my first concerts was the Grateful Dead.
     *TRUE! Believe it or not, one of my first concerts was the Grateful Dead. With my dad being the attorney for the local amphitheater we went to several concerts during the summer. One of the first ones that I remember was the Grateful Dead. I distinctly remember watching a lady dance around in circles and mimicking her. I thought that was how you danced. I now know better… I had a tie-dyed t-shirt from one of the concerts that I wore until the holes in it got too inappropriate to go out in public in!
3. My older brother was John Mellencamp’s Nanny.
     *TRUE! After college my brother wasn’t too sure what he wanted to do. He worked at the amphitheater and became friends with John Mellencamp (I grew up in Indiana!) Somehow this led him to becoming his Nanny for a bit. If you knew my brother you would be surprised about this! He is now a successful music agent. John helped him get his start in that.
