Setting up expectations on our 1:1 iPads is necessary. It helps me to ensure that all 19 of them are kept safe all year. Last year the only “injury” we had on one was a headphone jack got stuck. Otherwise they were great!
To help with this, I have my students help me set up the expectations. We then took pictures of ourselves to explain the expectations and put the posters on our iPad cart. The students look at it daily as they get their iPads out. The expectations include:
- Use only the app that you are supposed to be on. Follow directions!
- Make sure your hands are clean before using your iPad. Wash them or use hand sanitizer.
- Treat your iPad with respect. Only touch the screen lightly with your finger or stylus.
- Keep liquids, drinks and food away from your iPad.
- When you are not using it, put your iPad to sleep by touching the power button.
- Only use iPads while seated. When you walk with an iPad use two hands – hug it!
