Have I mentioned how much I love Twitter? It brings my students amazing opportunities…
You may remember my post on how we played Kahoot during World Read Aloud Week. After playing, I knew that we needed to repeat before the end of the school year. When April rolled around my thought was to complete one for Earth Day. I sent a tweet out a week before and got immediate responses. Could we pull it together in time, of course!
We learned a lot from our first Kahoot Hangout. To ensure that this one ran even smoother, I created a document that I shared with the teachers that participated. I think it really helped!
We wanted to make the experience meaningful and collaborative, so we decided to not use a pre-made quiz. Each of the classes researched Earth Day and submitted possible questions to a Google Doc. I then used those questions to create the quiz. Kahoot makes it so easy!
All of the preparation made the actual hangout a huge success. We even had Stephanie from Kahoot play with us from London! All together we had 8 groups on the hangout. The classes were from Kansas, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Pennsylvania and Illinois.

This is what our view looked like. We shared the Kahoot game, so we needed to split our screen! |

And now, for a little fun, enjoy watching a glimpse of our call via our GoPro!
The event ended up being an awesome way to celebrate Earth Day – literally around the world. Will we play again? Of course! Let me know if you would like to join in!
Oh my goodness, I love everything about this! What an awesome idea!! It was great to see the video too! I would love to participate next time you do something like this! 🙂

What a great idea. I noticed above your board that you had thumbs up, thumbs down, thumbs sideways. I love that idea. I didn't see that anywhere on your TPT site. Could you tell me where you go that or if you made it?
Thanks so much, Katie! You can grab them at my TpT store – here is the link! https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Marzano-Inspired-Levels-of-Understanding-Hand-Sign-Posters-1587249
