Aw! I’m SO excited! Some of my favorite teacher bloggers and I have been planning the launch of The Primary Punchbowl for months now. I am SO happy that the time has finally come and we can share a variety of ideas from a variety of awesome teachers! To launch our journey, I am participating in the Fall Blog Hop to share with you some of my favorite fall ideas and some AWESOME prizes!
To start off, I want to tell you a little more about one of my favorite ways to bring fall to my classroom…through read alouds! I absolutely love pulling books to read to my first grade students during this time of year. They always spark interesting conversations and get my kiddos thinking about the fall. Living in the midwest, we truly get to see fall in all its beauty. Learning more about why the leaves change colors, the pumpkins that are finally ready to be picked and the bats and spiders in our environment really connects with my students. Below are just a *few* of my favorites to read!
Next up a fun freebie!
I recently gave my first graders a math assessment and learned that they were still struggling with place value. So, I thought I could incorporate a little fun with some more practice with it. Enter candy corn!

We love, love, love your fall freebie! If we are being honest, several years ago when our state's standards changed and place value was added into kindergarten, we were beyond skeptical about their abilities to understand! We are so thankful we were wrong! This concept is one that transformed our students' thinking about numbers. Thank you for offering such a fun way to practice place value!
