Who doesn’t love the New Year? As teachers, I feel like we get two “New Years.” One in June when school is out, and the other with the rest of the world in January. I love fresh starts and new goals. It is nice have a chance to reset my mindset and start over.
This year I am keeping my resolutions simple. 2016 is going to be a big year for myself and my family. I want to make sure that I am keeping what’s most important for us at the front and I know everything else will follow.
1. Do what’s best for me. How hard is it to say “no?” SO hard for me! I do not say no enough and then end up not doing what is best for me. I know what I need to do, I just need to make sure that I follow my heart and instinct.
2. Do what’s best for my family. As my husband and I are preparing for our new baby to join us in May, there are a lot of changes on the horizon. I need to keep my family at the forefront and do what is best for us. I hope that my Mama instincts kick in and this is easy to do!
3. Do what’s best for my class. Teaching is such an important job. I am so lucky to get to be a part of something important everyday. I have been learning to prioritize my time spent at school so that I do not spend my life there. I have been maximizing my preps and at the same time continuing to push myself to be the best I can be for them. They deserve it!
4. Be happy. Sounds simple, right? I have had a few tough years going through infertility. I am so looking forward to 2016 bringing happiness back into my life. I also can’t wait to just feel like myself again. I know if I follow my resolutions above this will come to me.

Sarah, we just love your New Year Motto!!! With the hustle and bustle of life, we often forget to do what is best, too! And, at school, it seems that with all the paperwork and new programs that are being implemented, what is best for our kids seems to be forgotten about by the "higher ups." We will be taking a page out of your book this year! Thanks so much for sharing! Much love, Ashley and Brooklynn
Ashley and Brooklynn – Thank you for the sweet message!! We definitely forget to what's best with the hustle and bustle of life, and I am hoping to keep that at the forefront this year. We know our kiddos best of all, so we need to do what we know is best! Happy New Year!! XO
