You may have heard that we had a great skype session last week. I am sure you saw the fun trucks that came home. We learned a lot!
We are in week 6 of an awesome social studies unit. The unit first started with learning about 29,000 bath tub toys that were lost at sea in 1992. Have you heard of this before? It was a wonderful way to jump-start out learning and excitement. Ask your child to teach you about it.
After learning about the lost toys, we began learning about why the bathtub toys were being sent on a cargo ship in the first place. We learned two new vocabulary words – “production” and “distribution.” We created flow charts showing this. You will see them when you come for conferences!
While discussing production and distribution, I told the students that Mr. Barnett’s brother, Philip, worked in this area for his job. He works for a load and delivery company and knows a lot about it. Therefore, we decided to skype him to learn more.
We came up with questions to ask him to learn more about it. It was a fun way to learn more from an expert.
I will update you more during the week of where our learning took us after production and distribution. We have some videos to share to teach you!
