Sharing our writing is an important part of growing as a writer. Our class has been working so hard and “writing like the wind.” I believe in the importance of sharing what we have written as often as possible. This usually takes the form of a quick 3-5 minute share of just a few students at the end of our writing time.
I take the opportunity to create a Writing Museum at the end of a writing unit. My students love it! We turn on music and invite teachers. I give each student sticky notes to walk around with and leave notes on the other student’s writing. The comments that are left make my heart so happy. It is always hard when it is time to “close” the museum. My friends would love to continue to walk around and leave notes on every single piece!
